An individual among individuals
Many people believe, that individual actions can’t change the world. Is that realy true? We are here to prove, that it’s not. Lots of people aren’t aware that their small actions can have an enormous impact on something much bigger than themselves. From a scientific point of view such phenomenom is called The Butterfly Effect. What it means is that a tiny, potentially harmless and meaningless action can have catastrophical results. However in our situation the coin is double-sided. On one hand throwing a plasic bag into the ocean can kill a turtle, but on the other taking a plastic bag out of the water can save a turtle. What you think changes nothing, might change everything.
Statistics from Udine

We interviewed some Udine’s citizens, about what do they do in their daily life to protect the environment. On the left, you can see their answers converted to percentages.
Besides cold facts we just gave you, we also herded some sentences, that caught our attention while interviewing.
- Do you do anything consciously to help the enviroment?
I am vegetarian so I don’t eat meat or fish. I am also trying to reduce dairy and other animal products.
- Do you think this behavior can make a change?
I hope so, I’m trying my best to do so. I recycle, save, reduce, reuse, and even if i would be the only person who does that, it still causes a change.
Ecological solutions in practice
From what we’ve seen, in Udine many people grow plants in their apartments and on their balconies which help reduce CO2 in the air and produce more oxygen. Although, some want to have plants to grow their own fruits and vegetables so they even create greenhouses next to their homes.

Udine also has many residents using reusable Energy sources, to save power, for example: they install solar or water-heating panels on the roofs that convert the sunrays into Energy to either produce heat or electrical power.

When it comes to reuse, in Udine we saw a lot of practical, innovative and ecological solutions. Below, we photographed an example of giving second life to our home furniture. To an old, ruined and kitchen stove someone put flowers, which made it a flowerpot. As you can see, it was also done with another, useless furniture.

To sum up
As you can see, in Udine there are many people who agree with the positive outcome of „The Butterfly Effect”. They’re doing their best to help the environment. Their activities, such as taking care of nature are litterally „growing” on the streets of the city.
